Post Leniency Toward Animals In Islam

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Leniency Toward Animals In Islam

I read a post on TELEGRAM by Sh. Omar Al Muqbil which was posted on Aug 6th saying:
"

I think that if the Ahadeeth that address the topic of respecting the rights of the animals and forbidding harming them were to be translated, many non Muslims would accept Islam. A religion that calls for this respect for the rights of animal, then how about human rights?" End quote

So this encouraged me to collect some of the Ahadeeth in this regard, And I came across a nice compilation on AHL AL HADEETH forum that was collected by Sh. Tarik Al Hamoudi

It's a compilation of 40 hadiths from which I will be selecting some. And since most of the Sunnah of prophet Mohammad (peace and blessing be upon him) is already translated to English I will just copy them from these sources, and to be precise, I will rely on the publications of DARUSSALAM, and I will (try) to translate other Ahadeeth that may not be translated . May Allah facilitate this endeavor for me and grant me success

Watering a thirsty dog

Al Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "While a man was walking on a road, he became very thirsty. Then he came across a well, got down into it, drank (of its water) and then came out
Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. The man
said to himself, 'This dog is suffering from the same state of thirst that I was suffering from ' So, he went down the well (again) and filled his shoe (with water) and held it in his mouth and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him." The companions asked,
"O Allah's Messenger! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?" He said, "(Yes)
There is a reward for serving any animate (living being)
Al Bukhari (6009, 2363, 2466) / Muslim (2244)

Upsetting a female sparrow by taking away its chicks

It was narrated from 'Abdur- Rahmãn bin 'Abdullãh that his father said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, and he went out to relieve himself. We saw a red-headed sparrow that had two chicks with her, and we took her chicks. The red-headed sparrow started to flap her wings. The Prophet came and said: 'Who has upset her by
taking away her children? Give her children back to her.' And he saw an ant colony that we had burned, and said: 'Who burned this?' We said: 'We did.' He said: 'No one should punish with fire but the Lord of fire

A woman entered Hell because of imprisoning a cat till death
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) : Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A lady was punished because of a cat which she had imprisoned till it died. Getting charitable gifts by planting and sowing

Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him

Forbidding taking animals as targets

Narrated Sa'id bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him): While I was with Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): we passed by a group of young men who had tied a hen and started shooting at it. When they saw Ibn 'Umar, they dispersed, leaving it. On that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Who has done this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who did so
In another narration, Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who did Muthla to an animal (i.e., cut its limbs or some other part of its body while it is still alive)
Bukhari (5515), Muslim (1958)
